Paths of Courage Healing & Retreat Centre

The Sexual Assault Centre for Quinte & District is a feminist organization that provides non-judgemental, supportive counselling and information for all survivors of sexual abuse and assault in Hastings & Prince Edward Counties. We have an immediate opening for a Cook at the Paths of Courage Healing & Retreat Centre located in Prince Edward County.

 

Position Summary:

In keeping with the well-established vision and values of our feminist organization, in this position you will provide all culinary duties during the 12 scheduled one-week residential retreats per year. You will be responsible for healthy menu planning, grocery purchase, preparation, and cooking all food, portioning and serving food, washing, and cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils and designated cooking/workstations and overall cleanliness of the kitchen.  This position runs from Sunday to Friday during the weeks of the pre-scheduled Retreats, 12 times per year. You will be responsible for daily/weekly menu planning, breakfast service, lunch service, dinner service and three healthy snacks per day.

 

Qualifications:

-Diploma from a Culinary Arts program or equivalent

-Experience is necessary

-Solid working knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation standards

-Safe Food Handling certificate

-Highly organized and creative

-Understanding of vegetarian and vegan cooking options and food allergy issues/concerns

-Ability to work independently and on a strict timeline

-Ability to follow the established food budget

-Maintain a positive and professional environment with current staff and all Program participants

-Experience working with vulnerable persons

-First Aid is an asset

-Current Police check with Vulnerable sector check

-Valid driver’s licence, insurance and use of your own vehicle is required

-Adherence to all Occupational H&S Legislation in the workplace
