Community Support Worker

Description:
Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley is actively involved in the Ottawa Valley to provide adults living with an intellectual disability with the support needed to live their fullest and most extraordinary lives. We are currently hiring for Contract Full-Time, Part-Time and Casual positions. Shifts are on a rotating schedule that includes weekends. Shifts vary in length up to 12 hours in duration all positions include days and evenings, and alternate weekends, and holidays, or overnight for Night positions.
 
Qualifications:
·      Two years of post-secondary education in human services is preferred for all positions, however candidates who demonstrate an equivalent combination of experience and education will also be considered.
·      Current vulnerable sector screening (or willing to obtain)
·      A valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and proof of vehicle insurance
·      Current certifications in First Aid, CPR (or willing to obtain)
·      Proven excellence in working both independently and in a team
·      Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
·      Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities is an asset, however extensive orientation and training will be provided
·      Experience with supporting individuals in other ways (i.e. aging parents, family with a history of disabilities and/or mental or physical illnesses) 
·      Bilingualism is an asset, but not necessary
·      Experience working with dual diagnosis and challenging behaviors.
 
Compensation:
This is a positive and collaborative CUPE unionized workplace. Salary for all available positions ranges from CA$19.00 -CA$28.38 per hour and additional benefits included.
