The YMCA of Central East Ontario operates out of three major Health, Fitness and Recreation facilities as well as approximately 20 community locations. Reporting to the General Manager or their designate. This position is responsible for the development and
implementation of all preschool/youth programs, camp programs, and babysitting services. It is the responsibility of the
Supervisor of Child, Youth, Family & Camp to ensure that there are systems in place to support the training and
development of part time staff and volunteers. The Supervisor is responsible for budget management, program
planning/management and providing strong hands on leadership.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
-Plan, develop and implement programs within specific area and in partnership with the program team. Programs
must meet high standards of service in a value based environment and stimulate membership growth and
retention.
-Ensure an appropriate amount of hands on leadership within program areas. Direct leadership in coaching,
mentoring and support of all program staff.
-Recruit, hire, train, manage and evaluate program staff and volunteers.
-Create an annual budget and manage the allocated budget throughout the year.
-Ensure Best Practices are met
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
-University/College Degree/Diploma in a related field – Recreation and Leisure Services (an asset)
-Minimum 3 years of front line and supervisory experience with preschool, youth and camp programs
-Demonstrated competence in program management and implementation
-Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills
-Proven track record of staff and volunteer supervision
-YMCA Healthy Child Development/High Five Training – an asset
-Experience in physical program and camp leadership (a must)
Working Conditions:
-Variable hours required (includes evening and weekend)
-Requirement of Standard First Aid & CPR Level C & AED
-Satisfactory vulnerable sector check
Reporting Relationship:
-Reporting to the General Manager or their designate, Belleville Branch
-Direct Reports: Youth and Camp
