Position:              Sales Associate / Key Holder (Sun, Mon, Tues)           

Salary:  Minimum wage to start with progress increases

 

Description:          The Old Tin Shed’s Mission is to provide a distinct, destination that provides customers with the most unique and compelling shopping experience that inspires creativity for everyone’s individual hearth, heart and home.  The dynamic sales team is small, creative and cohesive.  Working in a family friendly team environment, the Sales Associates of the store report directly to the Owners/Partners but takes direction from the Manager and/or Assistant Managers on a daily basis. 

 

Responsibilities:                 

  • Problem solving, and troubleshooting in a retail environment
  • Providing customer service that is professional, enthusiastic, positive and provides a flare for creativity to help inspire our customers in their purchases or craft endeavours
  • Retail sales and ability to meet targets
  • Retail opening and closing of a store, including alarm systems and cash systems
  • Merchandising, product placement, stocking, tracking of inventory and pricing
  • Able to climb ladders and lift 40 lbs to stock and merchandise
  • Maintaining a large quantity of information regarding a vast amount of product
  • Diligently completing daily and weekly tasks
  • Being dependable and trustworthy to handle cash and maintain store privacy
  • Balancing the cash register and Point of Sale system
  • General cleaning of store, and grounds which includes the old barn
  • Maintaining outdoor gardens and display areas
  • Maintaining a safe work environment free of any hazards to both staff and customers
  • Staff may be required to work alone at times

Requirements:                    

  • Two year’s customer service and sales experience
  • Must be bondable, High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, excellent computer skills
  • Home décor flair and creative ability to learn new things such as painting, transferring, and staging
  • Proven ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, set goals and meet targets
  • Proven ability to be a team player, punctuality and dependability
  • Available to work a variety of hours which include weekends and holidays
  • Physical requirements include lifting of boxes and heavy merchandise
  • Understanding and acceptance that the store has security cameras throughout

Although the business is open 7 days a week all year long, our hours are 10 am to 5 pm regularly and Sunday/Holidays 10 am to 4 pm.  As a tourist destination, the store is the busiest during the summer and on weekends, so the team needs to understand the workflows of the business and be committed to be a team player and covering those busy times.
