Quinte Curling Club

The Club began in 1867, and the Club incorporated at its current location in April 1957. Currently,
membership is around 400 adult members with a strong junior program. Our facility consists of 4 sheets of
ice and a lounge that accommodates 150 people. The Club is operated by a volunteer Board of Directors.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Business Coordinator and/or President, the Event Coordinator:
-Supports the Board of Directors, QCC Strategic Plan and implements initiatives to improve Quinte Curling Club for our community and members; assisting in event coordination, planning, and through social media presence.
– Primary responsibilities are to support the summer operations of the Quinte Curling Club working in conjunction with the Business Coordinator, including:
        -Community event planning, outdoor events, communications and                club promotion; and other events as required.
        -Support the coordination of the annual fundraising yard sale
        -Assist and promote summer program activities such as pickleball                 and cornhole leagues.

Bar Operations
-Safe and secure handling of bar stock, cash register, Point of Sale and debit systems and cash.
-Maintaining an efficient bar and stockroom, including advising Business
Coordinator of stock requirements.

Other Coordinator Requirements
-Ensure Club facilities, equipment and grounds are well maintained and clean.
-Maintain food safety, bar equipment, and health and safety to meet legal and club requirements.
-Play an active role in the Quinte community and serve as the “face” of the Quinte Curling Club.

Member Relations
Communication Requirements;
-Communicating effectively to establish and maintain a positive working
relationship with Club members, the public and event promoters.
-Marketing and Promotion of the club and its programs within the local community for summer events, and planning for school visits for the upcoming season, working in conjunction with the Director of Membership & Publicity.
-Ongoing public relations, promotion and contact with curling membership, providing accurate and timely information on schedules, programs & special events.

-Assist with maintaining the Club website, production of communication material working with applicable Directors and Website team.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS and QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED
-Experience in customer or member-focused organizations
-Is highly motivated and a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset
-Is adaptable to a variable work schedule, including occasional weekends
-Familiarity with the sport of curling (as a curler or curling enthusiast) is an asset
-Excellent public relations, written and verbal communication skills.
-Excellent planning and organizational skills.
-Hospitality Management would be an asset.

Certifications required, or will be obtained as successful candidate
-Smart Serve
-Food Handling
-Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
-Current First Aid/CPR certification
-Valid Driver’s License.
-Flexible to work variable shifts; evenings, weekends
