REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE (RPN)

HOSPICE NORTH HASTINGS

 

Hospice North Hastings has a rich history rooted in compassionate care and community support with the aim of providing specialized care for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses.  We are currently looking to fill the position of Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) who will contribute to the delivery of care for residential and at-home care of Hospice North Hastings clients.  The RPN will provide direct care and directions for care for individuals with hospice palliative needs, forming strong collaborative relationships within the hospice and with Home and Community Care Support Services South East and local practitioners.  Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

·         Contributing to the development, monitoring, evaluation, and revision of resident care plans

·         Administering medications and treatments and evaluating effectiveness

·         Providing competent, evidence based clinical care including admissions and discharges/deaths

·         Maintain accurate clinical records, documented in accordance with CNO Standards

·         Recognizing, assessing, and responding to changes in resident health status

·         Liaising with MRP and other providers to support the resident and family

 

Minimum Qualifications include:

·         Valid RPN registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)

·         Certification in Hospice Palliative Care (CAPCE/LEAP/Fundamentals), or willingness to complete

·         Ability to communicate to individuals with diplomacy, sensitivity, and professionalism

·         Demonstrate the ability to work independently, and collaboratively in a team environment

·         Understands the importance of ethics, autonomy, and critical thinking in decision-making

·         Excellent palliative pain and symptom assessment and management skills

·         Understanding of therapeutic relationships and how to maintain professional boundaries

·         Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated effective time management skills

·         Demonstrates compassion and caring while providing the highest quality of care

·         Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, and the values of Hospice North Hastings

 

The successful candidate is required to meet the agency’s background screening requirements.  This full time position will be required to work both day and nights shifts as needed and some weekends.  Salary will be competitive and commensurate  to the experience of the individual in addition to the provision of health benefits and HOOPP pension plan.  This position qualifies for The Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) in which the successful candidate may qualify for a $25,000 incentive.  Some conditions apply.
