Description:

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Worker (DSW) to join our team in an in-home position in a non-smoking environment. This role involves providing support to a client in becoming independent, developing social skills, assisting with life skills and finding meaningful employment opportunities. The ideal candidate will be a positive role model to affect change.

Responsibilities:

Assist client in developing social skills through various activities and interactions.

Support in identifying and pursuing meaningful employment opportunities.

Provide guidance and encouragement to foster independence and confidence.

Maintain a positive and supportive environment at all times.

Supervise and support client to follow recipes for cooking and baking

Guide and supervise client when making a grocery list and shopping at grocery store

Support client in gaining independence by teaching a range of skills, including cleaning, cooking, banking, and shopping.

Help build client’s confidence to enhance social interactions and improve communication skills, both over the phone and in person.

Attend medical appointments with client when required for support

Requirements

Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.

Must be patient, flexible, compassionate, understanding

Ability to adapt to the client’s needs and preferences

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently

Enjoy doing online research and reading various informatio

Knowledge of computers, software, word and using Marketplace to sell things online
