Relief of Poverty in North Hastings: Creating a Strategic Plan for Well-being North Hastings

The successful applicant will work to develop a strategic plan to improve the living conditions of any of our population living in poverty in North Hastings and to encourage community collaboration, working under the direction of the Chair of the Board of Directors of Well-being North Hastings (WNH).

The Facilitator will organize a working group (or groups) of collaborators, partners, funders and community to develop a timeline and deliverables to complete the strategic plan by the end of the project.

 

This will be achieved by:

  • Creating an inventory of services currently being delivered in North Hastings
  • Identify service gaps and strengths
  • Identify opportunities and recommend ways and means to overcome service gaps with local agencies to improve services to those in need.
  • Communicate regularly with collaborators, partners, funders, and community.
  • Find ways to bridge the gap in community programs
  • Facilitate local community participation through the organization of 3 public meetings and workshops.
  • Create a 5-year strategic plan that will guide WNH into the future.
  • Provide administrative support as required and support administration goals through locating and submitting applications to appropriate funders to provide a staff member to support efforts of the Board of Directors and working groups to continue to build the capacity of WNH and all members.

Skills Required:

  • Experience in working in or demonstrated knowledge of the local social service sector
  • Past experience with an empowering community development approach
  • Past experience with public speaking and presentations
  • Ability to work with wide variety of stakeholders (community members, funders and collaborators
  • Computer skills in Excel, Word and social media
  • Experience in applying for grants or willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with work in the nonprofit sector.

Conditions of Work

This position is for seven months, 7 hours per week.  Hours are flexible except for meeting attendance. The position will be paid $25.00 per hour, every two weeks upon submission of hours worked to the WNH bookkeeper.

The work may largely be undertaken remotely or at 21 Flint Ave as is convenient to the employee, except for attendance to report progress at monthly board meetings, to facilitate meetings arranged for working groups and community information events.

A laptop and phone will be provided for any work performed at 21 Flint Ave. If choosing to work remotely, use of a personal computer with a WNH provided USB drive for data and documents will be required.
