FOH assistant

Small Scale Bread is a bakery located downtown Belleville that specializes in sourdough bread and a variety of pastries. We are looking for individuals to join our front-of-house team! This position is for someone who is eager to work alongside a team of like-minded individuals, and who thrives in a busy customer-oriented work environment.

Requirements:

* A strong background in customer service 

* Ability to problem solve and adapt in an ever-changing environment

* A strong work ethic and positive attitude

* Must be able to endure long hours of standing, walking around behind counters and bending to retrieve baked goods from display counters

* Able to work independently and alongside a team

* Sociable, with good communication skills

* Barista experience is an asset, but can train the right individual

* Able to lift up to 25kgs, comfortable navigating a small workspace 

* Food Handler’s/WHMIS/Smart Serve Certification an asset

Job duties include:

* Greets customers in a pleasant and helpful manner

* Takes and fills bakery orders for customers

* Answers customers’ questions about food ingredients and other aspects of the baked goods

* Operates cash registers and credit card machines 

* Arranges baked goods in an attractive manner in the display cases and on shelves and counters

* Ensures that displays are filled with products and not low on merchandise or empty

* Verifies that customers who have communicated food allergies are not sold products that could be dangerous to their health

* Keeps work areas sanitary by mopping floors and wiping counters to immediately clean up any spills

* Assists bakers with measuring ingredients, mixing dough, pouring batter, cleaning dishes and other basic duties

* Prepare espresso and coffee beverages according to recipes

Job type: part-time, 18-25 hours per week

Shifts: Wednesday to Saturday 7:30am-3:30pm (subject to change)

Salary: starts at $19 per hour, plus tips, depending on experience

Benefits: extended health care after 3 months (for 20+ hours/week)
