The City of Quinte West invites applications for the following summer student position:

Custodian Student

Community Services and Strategic Partnerships

Reporting to the Manager of Facilities, The Student Custodian is responsible for assisting the Head Custodian, with the cleanliness of Quinte West owned facilities. The position is responsible for performing various duties for keeping facilities clean and in orderly condition.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The position will:

Assist with performing routine housekeeping tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, sanitizing and garbage removal.
Properly handling and organizing custodial supplies. Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of chemicals and supplies for assigned areas.
Assist with cleaning and light maintenance in office areas, locker rooms, washrooms, break rooms, conference rooms and all other areas as assigned.
Assisting with pre and post cleaning for special events, assisting with the set-up and teardown of equipment for special events, and assisting with event security.
Recognize and report maintenance and safety issues to the Head Custodian in a timely manner.
Ensure adherence to the City’s Occupational Health and Safety policies, City Policies and Procedures and all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Education/Specialized Training/Skills:

The position will require:

Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Valid Class G Driver’s Licence and safe driving record.
Demonstrated interpersonal and team skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Knowledge of WHMIS
Effective communication skills.
Work Experience:

No previous experience is required.
Remuneration: 2024 Student and Part-Time Wages Level 1 – $17.70/hr to $18.45/hr
