Position Summary:

This position will assist the youth focused programs of the John Howard Society of Belleville (Quantum, Belleville Youth Center and Belleville Youth Wellness Hub).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Design and implement social and emotional learning activities for Quantum students and in the Belleville Youth Centre

Ensure that the programs are conducted in a manner that promotes and ensures the safety of all clients in the community

Plan and deliver relevant programs outlined in the Quantum Components including: educational supports, social supports and volunteerism.

Mentor and counsel individuals to encourage pro-social behaviors

Adhere to professional guidelines in relation to client confidentiality

Undertake other duties as assigned by the Youth Services Coordinator and/or Executive Director

Work with parents and other community groups as required

 Essential Skills:

Strong commitment to youth at risk

An accepting and non-authoritarian approach

Patience, tolerance and flexibility

The ability to establish strong relationships

Strong communication skills

Energy, motivation and a sense of adventure


Post secondary education in humanities and/or social services, youth focus preferred

Experience with youth in education or recreational settings an asset

Drivers licence and access to a car

Valid Vulnerable sector check


Short term contract with a possible extension depending on funding

14-21 hours per week

Must be available for evenings, 3:00-7:00 pm and possible weekends

Travel to Madoc and Trenton required
