Works closely with Production, Quality and Maintenance Teams to ensure all products are manufactured to Berry Corporation quality standards.
Follows all appropriate safety procedures. Actively engages in safety and leads by example.
Ensures quality standards on every line are being followed.
Engages in issues on lines where quality is not acceptable after production team has taken their appropriate actions.
Resolves high scrap issues using Root cause analysis.
Monitor repro, resin substitutions and best value utilization rates per line, per product daily.
Participates in continuous improvement teams. Scrap reduction, quality improvements. Output improvements.
Train employees when necessary to achieve safety, quality & productivity goals.
Institute and update all operating procedures for the production department.
Check machines for maintenance problems and ensures the problems are resolved.
Address and resolve with Production Supervisors any problems that may develop.
Provides production/process support to production – on call availability.
Makes recommendations to improve quality, process and increasing output.
Participates with development of risk assessments.
Motivates & coaches employees, communication, performance feedback & identifies & coordinates additional training requirements.
Performs other tasks as assigned by manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to understand/communicate English in oral and written form.
Good interpersonal skills. Communication/people skills, works well with production and outside resources.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Strong Knowledge in extrusion & secondary equipment principles.
Process Troubleshooting skills.
Good mechanical understanding.
Understand Critical and customer requirements.
Confident computer skills in Excel, Word, etc.
Ability to perform work with minimum supervision.
Willingness and ability to learn new concepts and develop new methods.
Possess good organizational skills including the principles of 6s.
Open minded to utilize all tools available.
Ability to work and lead a team environment.
Education & Experience:
Experience in production operations
Familiar with quality testing methods for film extrusion
Statistical experience an asset
Minimum 3 year post-secondary diploma or degree in a science or technical program (preferably materials, chemical or mechanical disciplines)
Minimum 5 years related work experience in a manufacturing environment
Advanced working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and data base software.
