 Relief/Casual Workers

 A Relief/Casual worker provides support to people with a developmental disability.

Relief/Casual workers are scheduled where needs exist within various areas of the agency. This position

typically covers staff’s vacation, holidays, statutory days and sick time.

This is an entry level position open to applicants with an interest in developmental services and support work. Experience in paid support work is not required but is an asset.

We are looking for applicants who are:

  • Aware and supportive of NHCIA’s mission, vision, and values

  • Willing to learn, through feedback, training opportunities, and goal setting, to work towards providing the best possible support
  • Able to provide personal care and support with activities of daily living
  • Willing to work flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Proficient in using computers and technology


  • Submission of a clear criminal record check including vulnerable sector screening for review
  • Valid Emergency Level First Aid and CPR
  • A valid Full G class driver’s license, submission of a drivers abstract for review, access to a reliable vehicle, $1,000,000 liability coverage and permission to carry passengers for work purposes
  • Successful completion of a college level pharmacology If not already completed, the successful candidate is to be registered in this course within the first 6 months of employment
