Fraser Lake Camp – Summer Camp Job Postings

These are seasonal positions beginning June 22 through to August 17 (contract length can be adjusted as needed). Staff training provided.

 

Lifeguard:

 

As a lifeguard, you will be in charge of safeguarding campers and staff members while they are at the waterfront.  You must obtain valid National Lifesaving Society and Standard First Aid certifications. Pleasure Craft certifications are not required but are an asset. You are required to attend all pre-camp lifeguard training sessions as well as training sessions that occur during the camp season that are conducted by the Head Lifeguard(s).  Typically, lifeguards also work as counsellors and supervise a cabin of campers when not scheduled at the waterfront. You must be able to understand and follow the Fraser Lake Camp policies and procedures for the waterfront that are outlined during staff training. As part of the Camp Staff, you must also respect and follow the rules and policies of Fraser Lake Camp. Some of the weekly tasks that you will perform are:

  • Assist the Head Lifeguard(s) in conducting weekly swimming

 tests for campers

  • Assist the Head Lifeguard(s) with opening and closing

protocols

  • Ensure that all waterfront equipment is safe and ready

to use, if not inform the Head Lifeguard(s)

  • Fill out the necessary paperwork for injuries that occur

at the waterfront and inform the Head Lifeguard(s)

  • Lifeguard for sessions when scheduled
  • Lifeguard for all camp wide swimming sessions
  • Lifeguards are also asked to support camp operations in
  •  other areas of camp when not guarding. At times you may be required to help out in the cabins (camp counsellor) or other program areas.
  • Be prepared to go above and beyond your job description!
